Hit me with that discount code.
The one you gave me on your way to Japan no longer works (obviously)...

As of last count, I own approximately 50 watches and more will be added to my collection as I have just won a very nice watch from an ebay auction and actively watching (no pun intended) about 4 more. Why so many? I only have two hands, as my mom would always point out to me whenever I buy a new watch. Why so many? Because I love a thing of beauty. I do not own a Louis Vuitton Tambour, a Rolex or even a Tag Heuer. Yes, they are great watches, but let's face it, for some people who own them, it's just a form of self-validation. The most expensive watch I have in my collection is a Hamilton Everest, the rest cost anywhere between $40 and $200...with over 90% of my watches costing around $60 to $95. I do not seek validation from a watch...I just appreciate an object of beauty...the way one appreciates a work of art. Most of my watches are interesting in a way that is appealing and pleasantly piques the interest of the beholder...they're never interesting in a ridiculous way. It is for this same reason that......I'VE GOT TO OWN THIS PHOSPHOR DIGITAL HOUR CLOCK!!!! IT RIGHTLY BELONGS TO MY WATCH COLLECTION...

Even since I first saw the Berlin Uhr in 1978 with its set theory approach to time, that has been my favorite way to look at time.

But I would love to have a Phosphor watch!

My favorite non-standard display was the Casio Pathfinder. LCD-based, but with three tiers for displaying information so it can show date over time over seconds, or switch to show temperature and barometric pressure under a barometric timeline, for instance. E-ink displays seem to be an improvement, though, both because the power consumption can be much lower, and because what can be displayed is limited only by the software of the watch itself, potentially.

My favorite non-standard way of a watch expressing the time is the way Ulysse-Nardin's Freak watch does it. Or, eat least it would be if I could afford one. Tokyo Flash's watches are also good, if you like having to keep a decoder with you to read your watch. This one should be easier to read.

I like to tell the time without taking time to tell it. So digital is the way to go as the big friendly numbers let my "i can't read 5 rotating dials at the same time while upside down on some awesome Monkey Bars" brain read them with full and complete adulation. But then again winding a watch upside down is not good for my health so digital watches and err Monkey Bars rock.

I am a watch enthusiast, but how we look at time is pretty much basic and there's nothing new. Obviously lcd has given us the chance to see different (the digital look), and then we have the ultra crazy and expensive watches like "Urwerk", "Cabestan" and "Azymuth", some of which you haev to take a course to figure out how to tell time. But this watch takes away the simple 2:48 look of digital and makes it interesting without making it extremely hard to know what time it is. It is definitely different, but understandable. Very appealing.

I like it because it isn't pretentious. Seeing men trying to find self-confirmation through buying ridiculously overpriced watches is just pathetic.
Other than analogue I'd prefer digital.

Why would I like this watch? Because it'd be totally unlike anything in my collection currently.

love the "throw back" nature of digital on the wrist ... all those great casios from years ago!

Just a great look watch!

Very Cool watch -- would love one!!!

My favorite non-tradtional manner of reading the time is digital. It is much faster than analog. Phosphor delivers novel, extremely stylish watches at a reasonable price point. I would love to own one.

I've always preferred digital over traditional watches. I found this page by searching for 'minimal black leather digital watch'. This watch is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for... though it's a bit out of my price range at this point. I'm keeping my fingers crossed - this is a great looking watch!

I love the look of the Phosphor watch. So simple and easy to read, yet unlike any other watch I have seen. A digital watch that actually looks refined and stylish. I would love to own one of these!

I like Digital Hour Clock Black because they are so odern and stylish! Best of the Best!!!

This Phosphor digital watch is so unique!I love the Phosphor watch designs, colors etc...everything about them! This watch with the black tone over the steel case is classy .The big numbers are a bonus!I love it and would be proud to have it adorn my wrist.

I like the phosphor watch because of its unorthodox way of presenting the time, even in comparison to other digital watches. The time is bold, clear, but at the same time subtle...

I prefer watches like the Phosphor for their easy to read digital displays. The Phosphor looks particularly nice due to its simply, uncluttered design and wonderfully legible e-ink display.

I like the retrograde style the best!

Modern, with an Alarm and very Green Friendly :)!

eink on a watch! What more could be said??? Sweet!

I love this watch. You will always be able to tell the time on this watch face. I also like the red accent around the side of the band.

I have to say the Phosphor holds great promise for me. I, unfortunately, am one of the growing numbers of aging men who's arms are getting too short over time. It's getting harder and harder to read my watches without the use of my "cheaters". This is especially true of digital watches. I recently purchased a multi function LCD watch and find it difficult to read, even when I activate the light. This Phospor watch promises great readability in any light. I look forward to it.

My favorite alternative is old time LED digital watches. There are some really nice ones out there.

A great digital timepiece from the 70's making a popular and face come-back in 2010. Love Jump Hours but this is a very retro yet trendy digital timepiece that I strongly favor and would easily wear

I've been wanting the Digital Hour ever since I saw your seal-of-approval article on it. Too bad I saw it after buying Ora Unica. I like my watches unique and well designed, digital or analog. Digital Hour definitely is a timeless design.

I think the watch looks amazing! And to boot, since I dont have a Kindle, I would love to try out something with E-ink!

Thanks

I thought: Phosphor, big deal. But then: isn't light, illumination, the basis for all telling of time, all navigation? Maybe that's not in the watchmaker's consciousness here, but still, any illumination of any timepiece recalls the first ways we learned to tell time.

After your last podcast, I'm not touching the question of 3-hand watches. I happen to be partial to the colorful wit of Alain Silberstein. But e-ink would be a nice change of pace, a different wit.

I am a fan of unusual things. When I saw LED watches for the first time, it cought my breatch, but this is even more amazing. Even after I went through the review at http://ablogtoread.com/seal-of-approval-award/phos... I was even more impressed. Thank you for sharing that!

Miro

phopher is an ergonomic, sleek watch and will become a classic with the touch of nostalgia it has, it has proven to be on line with the classic watches. i like the look and style it will mke a mark on the history of watches.

The design of this watch is beautiful.

I own a Phosphor watch. It's well worth the money. Easy to read, and you can change the appearance with the push of a button. I also like the hour chirp.

I live near the North Pole, under the Aurora Borealis... the Phosphor Watch will be as unique as the life I live... helping guide me under the Northern Lights.

My favorite non conventional type of watch is one with a digital display.

Simple...Stylish...Effective.

The Phosphor e-Ink watch takes it to a whole new level.

The readability design and appearance are stunning. The resolution of this time piece is beyond amazing,it is outright intriguing.Pop by your local bookstore or T@rget to see an ebook reading device to appreciate the way this display technology works and appears...beyond description.I would sell and recommend this watch to anyone who needs to know what time it is..and wants something truely unique.

My favourite non conventional watch is my original Tokyo Flash LED watch, but the Phosphor e-ink makes this look completely 'turn of the century'. Simply stunning watch.

Digital: Fantastic way of telling the time, looks great with a suit & super precise and easy to read!!

It looks neat, I like free things would be MY main motivator here. I like old LED watches, have one but it died a permanent death in the 90s I just hold onto it as a paperweight now :)

I like the unique way you read the time from it. Its different and the styling is very cool as well.

As long as there is constant movement, i.e some sort of "second hand" I'll love it! Plus the Phosphor's negative screen is just too sexy.

I like jump hour watches for their ease in telling time at a glance. I haven't worn a digital since the early 80s, but would wear the Phosphor in a minute.

I have always preferred the concept of the watch as a bracelet; something seamless, more scuptural. The storm circuit mk2, rado ceramica, and the bell and ross 126 vintage with a wide blackleather strap come to mind. If I push the watch from being just a timepiece to a sculptural bracelet, can I look forward to its e-ink technology displaying other content? Perhaps wrist tatoos? Very cool concept...would like to see it pushed farther.

What a cool watch! I admit I'd never heard of it until seeing it here. Thanks for the review and explaining how it works. I kind of like the DualTow as a non-traditional watch but the watch I actually wear is a thin, round, gold Omega "hours and minutes" bought for me in 1977.

I collect wristwatches. As I've said I always fall for a pretty face and man, the Phosphor line is most pleasing to look at.

I'm a digital watch fan myself. I like displays that don't necessarily look like normal watches (eg, Nooka's watches), and some that have totally unnecessary graphics (eg, some of the round display Casio Film watches).
