I really do like this watch even if it does have a bit of the Swatch Group stench from it. Let me clarify, the Swatch Group does not stink... but corporate culture when it comes to watch making does. "Make sure this watch doesn't compete with this watch!" "We must consider brand value!" Union Glashutte is a great German brand, but I am afraid that the Swiss overlords are keeping it from its full potential. I mean, you really can't even get the Union Glashutte watches in the US, crazy right? Well this Averin Chronograph is a nifty watch that uses the Valjoux 7751 automatic movement that I have always been a fan of (unless you don't like looking at tiny information windows). a cool watch with a nice style.

Yes it's a real shame what happened to this company. Swatch Group bought it and the next thing you know the original German movements are out the window and the factories are put to build ETA movements.

Since the merger that gave birth to it, the Swatch Group has always applied pragmatism, which made it the strongest watchmaker in Switzerland. If this crisis carries on, its foundation is so good that will be the very last ship to sink.

So I can understand that they switched German production towards the more reliable and improved ETA and Valjoux designs, but that is a loss for diversity amongst mechanical movements.

I tend to agree. Thanks for adding your thoughts.
