Tudor Heritage Chrono Watch Video Has American Flair, Not Actually Sold In America

Asia's fascination with the Tudor watch brand continues to elude me. Maybe that is because Tudor watches haven't been sold in the US in a while (at least as far as I know). So I have no emotional connect to the brand or its timepieces. As most of you know, Tudor is a brand run and owned by Rolex. Some call it baby Rolex, some call it "poor, but not so poor man's Rolex." Their new watch marquee watch for 2010 is the Heritage Chrono. Not exactly my favorite piece, but this Tudor made video makes it look cool. American music (though covered, and not the original song so as to avoid expensive royalties!), in an American looking lifestyle ad (with a German car) look squarely aimed at a western audience. Though none of these Heritage Chrono timepiece will officially be sold in America. Ironic yes, but more a point on how many products are sold in Asia as being of western influence, when in fact that aren't even sold in America (but sometimes in Europe of course).

I have Omega Planet Ocean Co axial, two Panerai, a Ulysses Nardin, a Bell & Ross.........and
I have just purchase this watch and I have to say that it hits a spot the others don't......
ignore some of the neg. mail from the US, just because they can't get it.........this Aussie loves it.

It isn't so much retro-Americana as it is retro-Western. Think Steve McQueen in LeMans - an iconic American racing a iconic German car against an iconic Italian team at an iconic French racetrack.

Sideburns and Dunlops and Cinzano and mechanical chronographs. Awesome.

At age 15, almost 40 years ago. My parents took me on a european vacation. My dad wanted to buy me a watch and after looking a dozens of cheaper watches, I saw the first watch I liked in the store. It was a Tudor stainless steel sub. I still have and wear that watch although I no longer take it diving. So, long story short. Thanks for including a post on a brand with lots of sentimental meaning to me.

That makes me happy to hear John.

... and isn't the car a 1960s Porsche 904 racer (so, not Italian)? Tudor has/had an official line of Porsche watches.

I like it. Reminds me of and '70s era Breitling or Heuer.

Music is the version of I Heard It Through The Grapevine by Creedence Clearwater Revival, a classic American band!

Really that is CCR? Cool. Well... then maybe they did pay some royalties after all. I didn't know that CCR covered the song.
